"The Internship" is the second segment of the sixteenth episode of the first season of The Ghost and Molly McGee, and the thirty-second episode overall.
Synopsis
When Molly interns at Weird Larry’s Pawn Shop, she struggles to see the bright side in a shop full of discarded junk.[3]
Plot
It is Internship Day at school and Mrs. Roop assigns all the jobs to her students. Molly is excited as she hopes to learn something fun and exciting while Scratch tells her that the only reason to get an intern is so that they can have someone to boss around, which gives him the idea to get one. Mrs. Roop begins to hand out internship jobs to her students with Molly missing out on the more fun sounding ones. Eventually, Molly gets called, but to her disappointment it is for Weird Larry's Pawn Shop where according to her "dreams go to die". Meanwhile, Scratch has acquired an intern named Reggie whom he begins to boss around, though Molly warns that he could be his boss one day.
Weird Larry's entire store is littered with junk that he leaves around on purpose as well as skunks who are all his pets. Disgruntled, Molly cannot stand the messy environment and Scratch does not appear to be teaching Reggie anything at all; instead having him get him food and trying to make him as a butler while yelling at him when he messes up. Molly asks Mrs. Roop if she can exchange with a different internship, but she tells her that she needs to make the best of her situation. Molly decides to perk up and begins to clean up the store; making it tidier and more organized. However, Weird Larry is shocked by the changes as it completely ruins his set up; leaving Molly feeling sad.
Molly prepares to give up, but Weird Larry reveals to her why he has so much junk. He uses it to create new things, such as a real working mechanical dragon to fight, exciting Molly. Meanwhile, Scratch and Reggie are called to the Ghost Council where it seems that Scratch will get punished for his lackadaisical teaching. However, Reggie claims that he did learn a lot including, ironically, how to scare. The Council is impressed and they promote Reggie; making him Scratch's boss, just like Molly had predicted. Molly happily tells Mrs. Roop about what she learned, but somehow ends up getting a C-. Nevertheless, Weird Larry thanks Molly for helping out and Scratch gets his comeuppance when Reggie critiques his work.
