The file policy serves to help users when uploading files of any type, whether image or video, to the wiki. Please keep in mind that these policies are constantly updated if necessary, so we recommend reading them constantly.
All rules listed on the General Policy page also apply to the File Policy.
General
- File categorization is generally required.
- If you wish to have a file restored or deleted, please contact a content moderator or admin.
- The images used in the Infoboxes require permission from an administrator to be changed. Please do not replace them with your own image, relevant or not. More information on the Infobox images section.
- We prefer screenshots (cropped or not) rather than renders for Infoboxes profiles.
- If you have a higher-quality picture than an image found in a gallery, feel free to replace it.
- Uploads of a large number of files need to be notified to an administrator in order to be assigned a bot flag. Read more about it here.
- Please contact an admin if you wish to reshoot a gallery of any large-scale reupload of an entire episode for the purposes of replacing old images and improving quality.
- Files containing fanon content must comply with our policy regarding Fanon.
Images
Uploading images
- We tend to use png images for episode screenshots due to their higher quality than jpg screenshots. The jpg images, on the other hand, are used for production artwork or photographic images, and .gif images are used for animations or production artwork too. If you upload a .jpg image it must at least be HD 720p.
- Watermarked images are allowed, but these are considered "temporary" and must be replaced when a new image without the watermark is found.
- For naming, try to provide each file with an appropriate name. Names that describe what the picture is about (ie. File:Sharon thuds her head on the wall.png) are preferred, as we like to try to keep this as consistent as possible. Do not use nonsensical/non-descriptive names or otherwise hard to decipher.
- For infobox images, use the following naming convention: Profile - [Subject name] (descriptor).png/jpg.
- The optional "descriptor" describes the design in case more than one appearance exists.
- For episode title cards, use the following naming convention: [Episode name] title card.png.
- For snapshots of an episode or short that will be used on galleries, use the following naming convention: [Episode Name] ([snapshot number]).png.
- For production image, use the following naming convention: [Episode name] - [Art type] by [Artist name].png.
- The "Art type" would be the type of art that the material is.
- Concept art: [Episode name] - Concept by [Artist name].png
- Storyboard: [Episode name] - Board by [Artist name].png
- Background: [Episode name] - Backgrounds by [Artist name].png
- The "Artist name" will be the name of the crew member who made the artwork.
- For example if it is a concept and it was made by Bob Roth, the file name will be: [Episode name] - Concept by Bob Roth.jpg.
- The "Art type" would be the type of art that the material is.
- For images that are not Infobox images nor screenshots, try to name them as appropriately as possible.
- For infobox images, use the following naming convention: Profile - [Subject name] (descriptor).png/jpg.
Image information
When you upload an image on the wiki, please provide the necessary information on the file's page by creating different sections, such as:
- Summary: This is an optional field where one can provide information on the image and the meaning or purpose for it.
- Source: This information is important and helpful, so specify where the file comes from. For example, the web sites if you took it from internet.
- Licensing: Please provide the right license for each image. More details on image licensing can be found in our copyright policy.
- Categorization: After uploading a file, add the Images category using the button at the bottom; you don't need to create a section for it.
Acceptable and unacceptable images
Acceptable
- Screenshots of a single frame from the show and panoramic images.
- Animated gifs from official art sources or gifs that demonstrate what still images alone cannot do. Gifs that have been approved by an administrator.
- Fanart showing a single symbol used with the consent of the original maker, used where the show or a press release could not provide a decent enough image.
- Promotional artwork of an episode made by a crew member.
- File extensions: .JPG, .GIF, .PNG this is standard requirement for the wiki and many file extension types (such as .BMP) are not uploadable.
- Please, try to keep the extensions in lowercase; "Example.PNG" will be deleted.
- Personal files that are uploaded to non-article pages should be kept to a minimum.
Unacceptable
- Fanart used for articles - from fan color images to full character depictions, though there is one exception (see "Acceptable").
- Fanarts that are made by crew members but are not related to the production of the show are not allowed.
- Very low quality images, such as pictures of a TV instead of a screenshot or blurry images in general.
- Doctored images of any form.
- Duplicate images will be deleted without warning so the wiki doesn't end up cluttered with multiples of the same picture. First, check to see if the image you want to upload isn't already in the appropriate gallery. For screenshots, it's recommended you check the episode's gallery first.
- Images unrelated to the topic of this wiki. We're not an image hosting site like Flickr, which exists for this purpose.
- Animated gifs that are unnecessary and superfluous. Most gifs are made by users on social media sites (such as Tumblr) and may find taking them, especially without credit, as disagreeable.
- Watermarked images - These are claimed by an owner as their property and they may be offended if the image was taken without permission.
- Note: TV, DVD, and sub watermarks are excepted from this rule. However, no image taken from Youtube may be used.
- Both porn and nudity.
Infobox images
Infobox images are the images displayed in the infobox templates. More than one image can be added; and as these sections are the most frequently used element on this wiki, this wiki restricts images to one file only. For an infobox image to be replaced, permission from an administrator is required, any change without permission is forbidden. As mentioned above, for general Infoboxes profiles we prefer screenshots, cropped or not, instead of renders. Episode title cards are the only ones that can go in these sections for the episode pages, so isn't allowed to change them for screenshots or promotional artwork of the episode.
Please avoid adding to the Infobox images of past eras or ages, whether of characters, places, or objects. For example, the character is in adult age, but their young appearance is known, instead of adding it to the Infobox, add it to the character's design page in an Ages section.
Here is a list of exceptions to this rule:
- The character has changed their appearance or clothing at their current age in the show at some point, their Debut design may be kept in the Infoboxes, this is only if their change is permanent.
- If the character has minor cosmetic alterations, e.g. minor wounds, eye color, or a minor accessory, but otherwise has the exact same body shape and appearance as they had on their debut, the image without these alterations will be replaced with an image featuring the changes in Debut, and moved to the design page. For example, the character originally had a hair clip but then stops wearing it, or vice versa; the design without these changes will be removed from the Debut design in the infobox.
- If the character has minor changes that reflect an important change in the narrative, but afterward they permanently change their appearance or outfit with these changes already implemented, the new form should be left as the design with the changes and the appearance before all these changes should be retained in the Debut tab.
- Keep in mind that the preferred outfits for the Infoboxes are those from the progress of the series, therefore outfits that only appear in flashbacks will not be added.
- The character has two different outfits, one casual and one for school or work. In case they have more than two casual outfits or for other trades, only the most iconic ones will be kept.
Videos
The videos on this Wiki are limited to certain areas. The kinds of videos allowed are also limited. See the following:
- Videos must be related to the show.
- Legal.
- Officially released preview clips of episodes.
- Commercials or promotional material.
They cannot be:
- Fan videos for articles.
- Fan speculation/theories videos for articles.
- Full episodes and shorts. An exception is when Disney Channel uploads them in their entirety to its YouTube page.
- Clips of episodes uploaded by non-Disney channels.
Audios
Audio on pages is to be used when text cannot describe a subject, no video is available, or if the page is excessively large (to save data). In this case, an audio file can be its placeholder or permanent holder on the page.
