"The Ghost IS Molly McGee" is the first segment of the twelfth episode of the second season of The Ghost and Molly McGee, and the sixty-first episode overall.
It premiered on July 29, 2023 simultaneously on Disney Channel and Disney XD, alongside "All in the Mind".[1]
Synopsis[]
Molly and Scratch agree to a body swap when they are forced to deal with their own discomfort with feelings.[1]
Plot[]
Libby has written a play for the school called Lunar Lemmings: An Intergalactic Love Story and Molly (who literally greased the teacher's palm to let Libby write the play) is the stage director. Due to her carefree approach, Molly has trouble trying to keep all the other students in line who ignore her and party all the time. Meanwhile, Scratch continues to annoy the Ghost Council who go on strike until Scratch shows appreciation for their work (Scratch's attempt to do it himself resulted in the explosion of Death Valley due to stamping the wrong scroll). At home, both Molly and Scratch voice their grievances over their respective situations and realize that they could easily solve it through an old-fashioned body swap. Scratch can use his tough demeanor to get the kids in line while Molly's optimism can easily win over the Ghost Council.
Molly and Scratch's alternative approaches actually work, but both hit a roadblock. Scratch encounters a young girl named Georgie who is tasked with making the papier-mâché lemming heads, but she refuses to listen or do any work, and Molly cannot get through to Bartholomew who refuses all of Molly's sweets and gifts. The two of them attempt to double down on their ideals, but both result in simply alienating their subjects. Back at home, Molly and Scratch reluctantly admit their personal issues, but come up with a very easily solution: simply talking to the person who is giving them a hard time and listening to them. Both get back to work to resolve their issues.
Scratch learns that Georgie is upset because she wants to be the lead in the play and is always getting stuck doing backstage things. Scratch agrees to talk to Libby about giving her the role if she finishes the lemming heads. Molly then goes back to the Council and talk to Bartholomew and he admits that he only wants to work and does not care much for any of the sweets that he is being given. Molly promises that "he" (Scratch) will refrain from eating food at their table and let them work and Bartholomew actually decides to try the cake for once. Molly and Scratch return to their respective bodies and watch the play together, only to learn that Georgie is a terrible actor.
