"Saving Christmas" is the second segment of the tenth episode of the first season of The Ghost and Molly McGee, and the twentieth episode overall.
Synopsis
Molly tries to convince Andrea’s father to save Christmas after budget cuts leave Brighton without its beloved Snowflake Festival.
Plot
Brighton is getting into the spirit of Christmas for the annual Snowflake Celebration. The McGee's join everyone at the band stand for the Mayor of Brighton to unveil the lighting of the Christmas tree, which is their first one and the Mayor made sure the tree to be two inches taller than Perfektborg's. At first, thing's seem to be going well, but overcharge causes the lights to burst, which snowballs into all the lights and decorations burning out across town and getting destroyed and the tree going up in flames. The Mayor solemnly announces that the celebration's activities have officially been cancelled. Molly is being the optimist that she is, refuses to give up, and convinces Scratch to help her find a solution.
They realize that Davenport's most likely has the money and go see Mr. Davenport about being charitable for the season. He turns Molly down where, to her surprise, Andrea sides with her. Unfortunately, Mr. Davenport still says no as he believes that "Christmas is a time to make money, not merriment" and ushers them both out. Molly then gets the idea to pull a Christmas Carol style haunting on him and Scratch and the McGees get to work. Scratch goes through each of the three ghost types for Mr. Davenport, but none of the things that he shows him have any affect on him and he comes to the conclusion that he is dreaming. With Molly in dour spirits and heading unhappily to bed, Scratch gets offended and decides to be straight with Mr. Davenport.
Scratch rehaunts Mr. Davenport and drags him around town. He finally pauses on seeing his daughter Andrea who is sad because she wanted to be crowned the Snow Queen for the celebration. This finally turns him over and he agrees to use his resources to put the celebration back on. Scratch then tells Molly the good news in the morning as they and the rest of the McGees get to work redecorating the town with everyone else pitching in. Mr. Davenport appears where he is congratulated for his work as the Mayor lights up a new and improved tree. Molly rewards Scratch with his promised cookies as they and the rest of the McGees hug.
