Perfektborg is the rival town of Brighton that is best known as "the perfect town".
Theme[]
As explained by the cover of "Midwest Monthly" and their "Best in the Midwest" section Perfektborg is viewed as a perfect Scandinavia-theme town where their town theme is Nordic. Their chief export are Meatballs and they won "Best in the Midwest" every time. It was also revealed that long before, Perfektborg used to be haunted by their own ghost's name "Scary Sven", but due to them having a "Crumbcake Cookie Competition" festival, Perfektborg became known as the most perfect and joyful town in the Midwest. This resulted in Scary Sven to be sentence to The Flow of Failed Phantoms due to his failure in preventing increase of joy in the town.
Despite it being referenced multiple times throughout the show, Perfektborg was never shown outside of one photo before the series ended.
History[]
In The Turnip Twist, when Pete McGee got the newest issue of Midwest Monthly and had Molly opened cover, it was announced that Perfektborg won it again, which upsets Pete as he tried for months to get Brighton on the issues, only to lose to Perfektborg numerous times. Later Perfektborg is mentioned when The Ghost Council summoned Scratch and use it as a reference for how festivals can spread joy. They said that when the town had their festival, it resulted in the town's joy levels rising to the point that the ghost haunting the town, Scary Sven, was unable to recover from it, and had to be banished to the Flow of Failed Phantoms for failing to maintain misery.
Later after the event of the Turnip Festival, Perfektborg was once again named "Best in the Midwest", which resulted in Peter crying after his plan failed and prevent Scratch from being sent to the Flow.
Fit to Print shows how much Perfektborg is hated in Brighton as it was revealed that Miss Fiamma had been using their parsnips as the main ingredient for her Turnip Burger. The town became so enraged that they had been tricked into eating something from their rival town that they formed a mob, causing Fiamma to pull the burger off the menu.
In "Let's Play Turnipball!", the titular game has been played between Perfektborg and Brighton for the 129th year in a row, but the long rivalry caused enough paranoia in Brighton that the players in the Perfektborg team was suspected of cheating and poisoning their competition. The accusation shocked the kindhearted (yet capable of a game face) players as "(Perfektborg) doesn't even have a word for (cheating) in (their) native tongue". Upon finding out what Brighton thinks of them, and secretly bored of winning all the time, team Perfektborg decided to throw the game to let Brighton have the victory thrill. Unfortunately, an automatic win via the sudden death zone led to them winning the game anyway, which one of the players carries home with a frown on her face, promising before going home that they'd try harder to lose next year. Unknown to Perfektborg, they gave Brighton a small victory thrill anyway via the fact they scored any points at all, as opposed to all games before, in which the game always ended with zero points in Brighton's favor.
Trivia[]
- Perfektborg seems to be based of Scandinavia.
- In its name, "perfekt" is the Scandinavian spelling of "perfect" and "borg" means "fortified castle" and/or "city".
- This is further alluded to by the Perfektborg’s Tunipball team players having Scandinavian accents.
- While it known that Perfektborg name is the word "Perfect", it is spelled using Scandinavia words.
- It seems that due to Perfektborg being named "Best of the Midwest" and bring so much joy, The Ghost Council never sent a ghost to make the town miserable after Scary Sven failed.
- An episode was planned called "Escape from Perfektborg" in which the characters somehow end up here and have to find out the town's dark secrets in order to get home, but the concept was scrapped on account making a set for an entirely different town was over the animation studios' budget.
