"Not So Honest Abe" is the first segment of the fifth episode of the first season of The Ghost and Molly McGee, and the ninth episode overall.
On October 6, 2021, this episode was released early on Disney+ (along with "The Best of Nin-tensions"). It officially premiered on October 23, 2021 on Disney Channel.
Synopsis
Molly only has a few hours to put together an entire school project on Abraham Lincoln, but it’s helpful that Scratch knows Abraham Lincoln’s ghost.[6]
Plot
Scratch is considered a loser in the ghost realm and cannot even be admitted into a club with the other ghosts, due to him using a fake VIP card. Upon returning home, he sees that Molly is in the middle of putting together history props for all of her friends (Joan of Arc for Kat, Marie Curie for Sheela, and Dian Fossey for Libby). Then, Scratch asks her if she has put anything together for her own project and she realized that’s due the next day. When she reveals that it is for Abraham Lincoln, Scratch states that he knows him that he would most likely not care. Molly puts together that he honestly does not know him. Offended, Scratch angrily tells her that he personally knows him and will bring him back to help with her project.
Scratch confides in Geoff his current predicament and decides to dress him up as Lincoln and convince Molly that he is the real deal. They return and Scratch tries to have Geoff go in and out, but when Molly desperately asks for help, Geoff decides to continue the ruse. Scratch is forced to sit and watch in horror as Molly is fed false information about the president. When she presents her project at the history fair, the other students begin to laugh at her with Mrs. Roop threatening to give her an F. Scratch sneaks into the ghost club and confronts Lincoln by asking for help. Lincoln has him be honest with himself and his feelings for Molly and he admits that he does not want to see her fail.
Molly hides in the restroom where Scratch arrives with the real Lincoln. While upset that Scratch lied to her, she is happy to see him make up for him and returns to do her project. She explains that the prior information was based on Lincoln's habit of telling yarns and proceeds to go into a real presentation: a hip hop/jazz number about Lincoln's accomplishments. Molly gets an A+ on her report and thanks Lincoln for dropping by. Scratch apologizes for his actions prior and Molly forgives him. However, Miss Lightfoot reveals that their science projects are due. Molly asks Scratch if he knows Albert Einstein, to which he, lying, says yes, because he "never learns [his] lesson", making Lincoln annoyed.
