Main Information

"No Good Deed" is the second segment of the sixth episode of the first season of The Ghost and Molly McGee, and the twelfth episode overall.

Synopsis

When Darryl gets in trouble at school, Molly volunteers to help reform his delinquent ways by giving him 'nice lessons'.[5]

Plot

Darryl performs a complex stunt at school where he rides a laundry cart down the hall, steals a leaf blower, and uses it to make a perfect jump, while also causing minor property damage. While hailed as a hero by the students, including Scratch, the teachers call him into Principal O'Connor's office and Pete and Sharon were already very angry. None of the teachers know what to do with him as they think that expulsion is not good enough. They ultimately settle on giving him 6 years detention (despite middle school only being 3). On the drive home, Pete and Sharon chastises Darryl, who admits that he does not understand how to be a good student and asks Molly to teach him. She happily agrees.

Molly proceeds to have Darryl take part in various activities with her, despite him wanting to revert to doing some more dangerous things. He even manages to apologize to the teachers with gift baskets and becomes a very civil and nicer child; making dinner for the rest of the family, who were very impressed. As Darryl and Molly go to school, they hear that all the teachers have mysteriously disappeared. As the children antagonize everyone, Darryl reveals that he tricked the teachers into going to what they thought was a team building exercise when he actually sent them to prison, thanks to a prison bus he saw while cleaning up the highway. Molly is horrified while Scratch thought that that was great and was preserving this moment, but Molly with telling Darryl that he needed to consider their feelings too (Darryl didn't know teachers had feelings). They resolve to rescue them.

Meanwhile, the teachers believe they are taking part in an elaborate escape room and plot to tunnel out of the prison. Molly and Darryl arrive, but are unable to enter. They send Scratch to go in, but the electrified fence, scrambles his brain. The teachers, blissfully unaware of their situation, manage to tunnel out and create a riot where they successfully manage to escape using the same trick Darryl pulled at school. The next day, the teachers were enthralled by their experience and are on better speaking terms with one another. Darryl concludes that it does not matter if what he does is bad as good things will follow afterwards, much to Molly's chagrin, but not before using the leaf blower and riding the cart that caused yet another destruction, much to Molly’s dismay.

Trivia

  • Mrs. Roop is revealed to be a lesbian as she mentions having a wife named Pam. Her voice actress, Jane Lynch, is also one in real life.
  • Darryl is revealed to be something of a moral imbecile, rather than a sociopath. While he can tell right from wrong, he cannot seem to fathom that good actions need to be applied to everyone as he was unaware that teachers had feelings.
  • It is revealed that ghosts such as Scratch end up "silly" (drunk/intoxicated) when exposed to shocks from electricity, most notably from an electric fence.
  • This episode is similar to a GoAnimate Grounded Video Where A Person Does Something Wrong In School. But Darryl didn't get grounded, instead, Molly taught him how to be good.

Cartoon physics

  • The janitor cart was powerful enough to destroy the electric fence within the prison facilities when Miss Lightfoot, Mrs. Roop, and Mr. Bates made their escape.
