Synopsis

When the McGee’s van breaks down and the repair costs are more than they can afford, Molly’s mom decides to take on odd jobs to help the family make ends meet.[5]

Plot

The McGees are returning from having bought numerous cleaning supplies. Scratch is upset as they are going to clean the basement of their house, despite the fact that he has never lived down there. The van suddenly breaks down and the McGees are forced to push it to the auto mechanic. They all try to reason that there are multiple ways to have it fixed and that this should be a minor issue, but upon arriving discover that the costs will set them back. Molly and Darryl are concerned as Pete's job does not seem to be enough to support them. With no other option, Sharon agrees to join the work force so that they can earn the cash to pay for the van's damages.

They then suggest various jobs for Sharon. Scratch suggested she cooks, but they immediately retract his suggestion of her cooking, and return home to clean the basement. Molly introduces Sharon to Gig Pig, an app that lists quick and easy jobs for pay. Scratch gets out of cleaning so that he can help them. Meanwhile, Pete and Darryl begin cleaning the basement where they find numerous centipedes. They discover a small door and debate what could be behind it (Pete thinks it is gangster money while Darryl thinks it is a door to "Centipede World") and make numerous attempts to break the door down. Sharon accepts the first small job, but only gets a measly sum back. Nevertheless, she continues to accept jobs here and there as Molly and Scratch join her.

Sharon continues to work hard with Molly beside her and Scratch getting harmed by every animal that is able to see him from dogs to buffalo. After a tough work day, Sharon sees that they managed to reach their goal to fix the car much to their excitement.

Reached

Molly and Sharon reached the goal.

This is short lived as they quickly discover that not only did Pete and Darryl manage to get the small door open, but that it lead to the water heater which they accidentally damaged and need to fix, though father and son feel like they have bonded with each other. Despite the large setback, Sharon tells Molly that she will continue to use Gig Pig and she will earn enough to pay for the damages as she has regained her optimism for work, especially for Scratch, as he has been overrun by all the animals.
