"Lock, Stock, and Peril" is the second segment of the seventeenth episode of the first season of The Ghost and Molly McGee, and the thirty-fourth episode overall.
Synopsis
When the McGee’s get locked in the basement, Molly and Scratch seek help, but have trouble remaining focused.[3]
Plot
The McGees are in the basement trying to fix a fuse after the lights in their house blew out. Scratch had inadvertently caused it due to using up numerous electrical appliances in the bathroom. Molly is sent up to check on him as he was supposed to see if the lights were still working. Instead, Molly finds Scratch in the middle of pigging out on ice cream; claiming that he was saving it due to the power outage. Molly reluctantly agrees, but upon trying to return to the basement, slips on a banana peel and shuts the door; trapping her family down there. Molly and Scratch are tasked to go and find a way to unlock it, but are warned to be quick as they both have a habit of getting distracted.
Molly and Scratch go into town to see what they can get to rescue their family. Molly settles on going to Weird Larry, but Scratch distracts her with going for a quick stop to buy bath bombs. By the time they get out, which is at 2:03, Weird Larry's store has closed already at 2:00 and they resolve to chase him down, only to get distracted by various things and miss him at his home where he rides away. Meanwhile in the basement, Pete, Sharon, and Darryl have opted to survive on the left over Halloween candy, but Darryl figures out that Sharon has been stashing more. The three split the basement into three areas and the family proceeds to go to war with one another over total control.
Eventually, Molly winds down and nearly gives up, but in a moment of unintentional reverse psychology from Scratch, Molly convinces Scratch to possess Weird Larry and together they ride through town and past numerous distractions, though they do briefly stop for some ice cream, before reaching home. Scratch lets go of Weird Larry and they convince him to unlock the basement door for them. Molly and Scratch find the family in the middle of their fight, but break it up and apologize to one another. Molly admits that she and Scratch were distracted before showing them a reindeer bath bomb, which turns out to not smell as nice as they thought.

Trivia
Continuity
- In "All Systems No", Molly says that she loves unicorns and that she believes they and their magic are real; in this episode, one of the distractions Molly runs into is a guy trying to pass off a horse wearing a party hat as an actual unicorn, which Molly naively believes is real to the point she tries to ride the "majestic creature", forcing it's owner to reveal the illusion. The way Molly behaves around the horse's owner afterwards mirrors her hatred of Irving the Illusionist just for being a magician.
- Because of her time working for him during "The Internship", Molly isn't as disapproving of Weird Larry as she was during "All Systems No".
- In "Mama's Gotta Hustle", Darryl is fascinated by the centipedes he finds in the basement, which freak out his father, Pete. In this episode, he unleashes an entire swarm of centipedes to give himself an edge over both his parents while they were fighting over supplies.
Allusions
- Häagen-Dazs - The ice cream in the McGee's freezer is Daagen-Hazs, a reference to this popular brand of ice cream.
- Camp Lazlo - Much like the Squirrel Scouts in the episode "Loogie Llama", Molly kept believing the obviously fake "unicorn" was real until its "horn" was removed.
- The Matrix - When Sharon dodges the plunger arrow that Darryl shoots at her using an exaggerated backbend, this is a tribute to how Neo dodged gunfire.
- Batman Returns - After the dodged plunger arrow hits the wall behind Sharon and she smugly tells him "you missed", just like the Red Triangle Gang clown who had kidnapped Selina Kyle (actress Michelle Pfeiffer) says in this scene where Batman (actor Michael Keaton) fires his grappling hook past the clown's head - after Darryl says "guess again" he pulls on a rope tied to the plunger-arrow (just like Batman pulled on his grappling line) to cause an attack from the rear - in this case instead of the wall falling on the clown, the wall opened to unleash a swarm on insects on Sharon.
