Jinx is an antagonist of The Ghost and Molly McGee. A secondary antagonist in Season 1, and the central antagonist in Season 2. She is a joy hunter who was sent by the Chairman and the Ghost Council to find the source of joy in Brighton. After the Chairman's death, she wanted to make Scratch's afterlife miserable and become the new chairwoman.
Appearance[]
Jinx is a slender, light purple ghost with shoulder-length curly hair and yellow eyes.
Personality[]
Jinx is extremely knowledgeable about the true purpose of harvesting misery and takes pride in feeding it to the Chairman (even if her efforts to please him are met with a stoic response that makes her obviously uncomfortable) as well as in sharing her knowledge with those who "slept through the topic" in basic ghost school. She loves laughing at the mistakes of other ghosts... especially Scratch... and hates anything that has to do with the feeling of joy, most notably how that emotion manifests in the form of flowers as she points to her hair being covered with them (via Molly's touch) saying "no ghost would want this!"
Despite her evil nature, Jinx has a motherly side around those who share her ideals, but it is most obvious around sobgoblins, whom she orders around like a tyrant orders minions when including them on her joy-hunting, yet speaks softly towards when everything is "as it should be" as seen when she addressed one of them as "little sobgoblin" and asked what it was carrying to her.
Despite her cruel nature, Jinx is not incapable of fear, as she was genuinely shocked when Molly's joy destroyed The Flow of Failed Phantoms and was absolutely horrified when she destroyed The Chairman with a single touch, even refusing to stop her from leaving with Scratch without a fight.
She later became obsessed with ruining Scratch's afterlife after he played a part in killing the original Chairman.
Powers and Abilities[]
She is able to sense joy through a machine and has the normal powers of a ghost.
Jinx is also able to summon a scythe (a tool commonly seen in the use of reapers) that isn't used but hinted to have the ability to cause sudden and permanent death in humans.
It is hinted that she's the inventor and namesake of the "Jinx" game in which, when two people say the same thing and one person says "jinx", the other person will be cursed to have bad luck whenever they speak until the one who jinxed them says their name three times in a row. Unfortunately, she's not immune to the rules of her own game and can have this specific cursing technique turned against her if she isn't mindful.

Scratch[]
Being suspicious from the start, Jinx gave Scratch several false senses of security while trying to find the source of joy in Brighton before revealing her true colors when the truth of Scratch and Molly's friendship was revealed, forcing him back to the Ghost World for "trial" on his "crime" of befriending a human and becoming a happier, friendlier ghost. As Scratch tried to justify his actions by stating he had to follow Molly around because they were cursed together, Jinx laughs at that detail stating she already heard that he accidentally cursed himself and tells him her honest opinion about him: "When I first heard about that, I thought: 'Wow! Can anybody really be that dumb?', and yes, yes you are!". Despite belittling Scratch and thinking of him as nothing more than an idiot, Jinx was powerless to stop him and Molly from leaving together after the latter destroyed The Chairman with a single touch.
She later tried to repeatedly ruin Scratch's afterlife and even wanted to take over his position as Chairman.
Molly McGee[]
When Jinx discovered Molly was the one spreading joy in Brighton, she immediately tried to kill her, but Scratch stopped her. After Scratch revealed his friendship with Molly, Jinx stated that it was wrong and decided to have him sent to The Flow of Failed Phantoms for all eternity. Molly later became a Wraith to save Scratch, but her joy was discovered, and Jinx tried to capture her, and later stated she was a menace due to her spreading joy wherever she goes. When Molly destroyed the Flow and The Chairman with her joy, Jinx was genuinely horrified, and refused to stop her from leaving with Scratch.
The Ghost Council[]
Jinx is highly loyal to the Ghost Council, especially The Chairman. They also see her as one of their best ghosts due to her reputation as a joy hunter. When they learn joy in Brighton was on the rise and there was a "joy agent" somewhere in the city, they send Jinx to find the source and eliminate it. She later revealed Scratch's friendship with a human to the council and took part in their trial against him. When Molly's presence in the Ghost World was noticed, they send her to find Molly and get rid of her. In "Jinx!", it is shown she was the original Chairman's number one fan.
