Main Information

"Goat Your Own Way" is the first segment of the fourteenth episode of the first season of The Ghost and Molly McGee, and the twenty-seventh episode overall.

Synopsis

When Molly insists on training her unruly goat for the county fair the “Molly way,” she learns that positive reinforcement doesn’t always yield positive results.

Plot

Molly visits the Brighton County Fair with Libby and Scratch. Scratch wants to try Turkey Tina's and have his own custom fried plate, but as a ghost, is not allowed to do the frying himself and wants someone to do it for him. Molly and Libby in the meantime attend 3A Club where they are tasked with taking care of a goat. The handler insists on the proper method of training them, "Command, Click, Reward", and warns them against falling for the goat's cuteness. Molly names her goat Totes and upon trying to train him at home, finds that she is unable to get him to do much. Sharon warns her about giving into pressure, but Molly decides to simply feed Totes with what she called "the Molly Method".

Scratch discovers the use of the clicker and decides to use it on Pete so that he can train him to do his bidding and get him to fry his food. Ironically, Scratch does very well with training Pete while Molly does not even get to do any training with Totes, resulting in her only making the goat fatter. The final day of the county fair arrives and Molly is not even capable of getting Totes into the van; forcing Scratch to do it for her. Scratch gets Pete to bring a tall plate of a food bounty that he collected and successfully gets it fried, while Molly gets to the 3A Club where she discovers that no one else had any trouble with their goats, including Libby who managed to get hers to be obedient.

Molly rolls Totes to get checked along with the other goats while Scratch and Pete sit with the fried food to watch. The food attracts Totes and, despite Molly's best efforts, is unable to stop him from diving for Scratch's food; creating a mess. Molly, Totes, Pete, and Sharon (even though she didn't even do anything) are banned from the county fair for the debacle as Molly finally realizes that her poor training was the reason for it. She finally gets Totes to listen to her with the command, click, reward method and has him perform community service by trimming (actually eating) the grass at the Brighton City Park, while losing weight in the process. The clicker still affects Pete; causing Scratch to have Totes eat it.

Trivia
