"First Day Frights" is the second segment of the first episode of the first season of The Ghost and Molly McGee, and the second episode overall. It premiered to 0.34 million viewers.

Synopsis

Molly is determined to make a good first impression on her first day of school.[6]

Plot

Molly is nervous about her first day at Brighton Middle School and confides in Scratch about her feelings. Scratch, who claims to be a popular ghost in the ghost world when he is actually the "worst of the worst", tries to use the opportunity to scare her and tells her that her first day will be terrible and she will become an outcast. Realizing how silly it sounds, Molly thanks him for the pep talk and she wholeheartedly heads to school with Scratch in tow. She gets Miss Lightfoot as her teacher and attempts to introduce herself, but Scratch tries to mess it up by making her slip on the floor. However, this ends up exciting the other students who thought that she was dancing and everyone cheers for her.

Molly meets Andrea Davenport, a popular influencer who takes a liking to Molly's style, but when she mispronounces her name (Ann-drea instead of Ahn-drea) and immediately forgets, which irritates Andrea. As a result, she then uses her influence to turn the students against Molly, and she soon finds herself sitting in the back of the class with another girl who made a similar mistake named Libby, who is considered the most unpopular kid in school because of Andrea. Molly finds herself being shunned by the other students with even the teachers somewhat ignoring her. Scratch tries to convince Molly that she should leave Brighton, but she instead perks herself up. This frustrates Scratch who accidentally scares an unsuspecting Andrea into fainting.

With no other option, Molly is forced to take Andrea's body to the nurse's office and puts her in a cart, only for it to roll uncontrollably through the school and land in the auditorium. Scratch lifts the curtains so that everyone sees Molly handling Andrea's body and accuse her of being the "worst of the worst". Gaining empathy, Scratch possesses Andrea's body and makes a declaration that people can pronounce her name however they want and that Libby (and Molly) deserve better treatment, much to everyone's cheers and Andrea's confusion when she comes to. After school, Molly declares that Scratch is clearly her best friend and that he loves her, much to his chagrin.
