"All Night Plight" is the second segment of the nineteenth episode of the first season of The Ghost and Molly McGee, and the thirty-eighth episode overall.
Synopsis
Molly, Scratch and Libby try to stay up all night to see a rare comet.[2]
Plot
At school, Ms. Lightfoot tells the class about a comet that is to pass by Brighton later that night and is so excited that she cancels classes for the rest of the day so that everyone can experience it. Molly is overly excited and makes plans to see the comet with Libby and Scratch so that they can make a forever memory. Scratch does not care much for the comet and only agrees upon hearing that snacks will be involved while Libby states that it would be nice to have a reminder in the next fifty years to see how they turn out; a notion that grabs Molly. Libby agrees to go, despite the fact that she has had a history of acting weird when she tries to stay up all night.
Molly prevents Scratch from eating any of the snacks until Libby arrives, already a little drowsy. Molly is annoyed to learn that there is too much light pollution in their area, and goes up to her parents' room for a ride. After Sharon and Pete argue over it, the former eventually gives in and drives them out somewhere where they can see the stars more clearly. Sharon takes the three to a farm, where one of her Gig Pig jobs were, and Libby begins to talk like her favorite fantasy book. Scratch is angered to learn that they accidentally left the snacks behind and tries to order a pizza, much to Molly's chagrin, and Libby continues to wander off where she enrages a herd of buffalo; believing they are dragons.
While hiding in a tree, clouds block the sky; angering Molly even further. As she pitifully tries to blow the clouds away, Scratch asks her why she is obsessed with trying to watch the comet. She despondently reveals that she wants one good memory of the three of them together so they can look back on this in fifty years and remember each other. Moved by her notion, Scratch turns into a hot air balloon and takes Molly and Libby up above the clouds where they manage to get a clear view of the sky and see the comet in all its glory. When the three return to the ground, they proceed to go to wake up Sharon to take them back, only to realize that they forgot about the buffalo, who are still enraged.

Trivia
- The musical sequence is portrayed in the style of a eighties sitcom intro.
- This episode reveals that Ms. Lightfoot has a cat named Mr. Doodles.
- Running gag: Libby acting like a fantasy hero in her dreams.
Continuity
- Molly recognizes the open field as the same one she and her mom gig-pigged at in "Mama's Gotta Hustle" upon seeing the herd of buffalo.
Allusions
- Libby reads a book series called A Song of Snow and Humidity, a reference to the actual book series A Song of Fire and Ice, better known by its television adaptation Game of Thrones.
- Libby's behavior when she loses touch with reality almost has the same feel as Don Quixote, as the title character in that story confuses windmills for giants the same way Libby confused a herd of buffalo for a horde of dragons, and much like Sancho Panza tries in vain to correct Don Quixote, Molly tries in vain to correct Libby.
- During the musical sequence, Libby is reading a book titled Bill and Bob's OK Adventure, a parody to the 1989 film, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. This is the second time Libby is seen reading Bill and Bob's OK Adventure, followed by "Ready, Set, Snow!".
Errors
- Michaela Dietz is credited as Darryl in this episode and "Scaring is Caring" despite not appearing in either of them.
